Long have I relished the smooth, yet soulful sound that comes from the United Kingdom. Some of my favorite artist to listen to include Marsha Ambrosious, Adele, Laura Izibor, Sam Smith and those are just a few. I can only imagine the soulful singers that blare beautiful melodies everyday, and go unnoticed.
Artist such as Natalie Stewart, known from her time in the duo Floetry with Marsha Ambrious, have given us a variety of well thought out lyrics often telling a story. But today my focus is on one artist in particular that I came across while on twitter.
Hailing from the United Kingdom, ladies and gentlemen I present to you Eklispse. And let me tell you his Intimate Affairs EP was beautiful. This EP, like Wonderful EP by Tess Henley, is only four songs long. I’ve come to discover that sometimes that’s all you need. Its all a matter of getting you point across, which can take 17 songs, or only 4.
The Good:
I enjoy the flow of this EP. Every song flowed perfectly into another, never once disturbing the mood of the project. This was meant to be more of an R&B project for all the lovers to enjoy. I don’t know about you but if I’m in that mode, I don’t want anything knocking me out of my rhythm, like an out of place song.
Intimate Affairs puts you in a mood to make love not just have sex. The softness of each song, made me want to put effort into being intimate, I hope you don’t take that the wrong way. A lot of R&B cuts mainly focus on the sexual aspect, and not the emotion that goes into it. That’s why people just have sex, mainstream pushes just having sex instead of intimacy. Kudos Eklipse!
The Bad:
I hope to last a long time when I’m getting it in, at least longer than 15 minutes, which about the total length of this entire project. I’m a little disappointed. But at the same time, it leaves you hanging. Sometimes the best ending are ones that are up to you to create. Being that this project was short it gave me the opportunity to use my imagination( that a Floetry song, look it up).
I honestly hope that he continues to make slow cuts, I think that might be where Eklipse will thrive the most. But then again I don’t want to put limitations on an artist at all, so the jury is still out on that.
Overall:
Eklipse, I must say I’m impressed. I just might be the hardest person to impress when it comes to R&B because I love it that much. Nonetheless, I give you props. Yall go check out the Intimate Affairs EP on soundcloud!
